11/29 Attempted to set up an animation on a trigger and struggled with it. Figured out you have to install the node based coding in order to use it, not that I was actually able to figure it out. Set up the animation I wanted to happen, but couldn’t figure out how to apply the directions from class in order to get it to trigger only when I want it to.
12/2 Watched a youtube video to try the on trigger enter animation again. Struggled for a couple hours but eventually got it after using a simple script I asked chat gpt to write. Not sure how functional it is, but I made the animations, animator, variables and parameters all have the same name to increase my chances of getting it right and it seems to be working fine lol. Also not sure why I couldn’t get the script from the tutorial to work- might be because I didn’t set the variable on the trigger until after I tried the second script.
Regardless, I was able to set a group of meshes to move down below the terrain on a trigger so that they appear to shrink away as the player enters the area.
Added some more shrink/grow scripts to items to add interest to dead areas. Copied and pasted some existing particle systems and changed the color to use them in different areas. Tested animations on the Oculus, the triggers worked as expected. Noted odd gaps between walls that player can walk off the edge of the map through/look at undesirable things. I want to add sphere getting squished to go with the pus/cum particle system. May just do it as a simple animation where it gets flattened with a slight delay after the trigger is hit. Adjusted the sheen of the water so it wasn't quite as reflective. The reflection from the skybox was making it look much lighter than I wanted it to be.
